Although OpenAI’s launch of ChatGPT on November 30 sparked the generative AI gold rush, it officially started on May 24 with NVIDIA’s rallying cry of “GOLD!” as the biggest seller of picks and shovels revealed it is witnessing a broad-based surge in demand. Interestingly, this came 100 days after NVIDIA’s Founder & CEO, Jensen Huang, boldly asserted that ChatGPT was the “iPhone moment of artificial intelligence”. This reference was to Apple’s launch of the iPhone on June 29, 2007, which started the Mobile Internet Gold Rush.
